The Story

Lebanon and Mediterranean’s poorest city Tripoli is ravaged by the continued deterioration of economic, the sharp depreciation in the Lebanese lira and rapid drop of the average salaries to 10% of its original value. The saving of middle-class families who used to help those who are less fortunate is locked in the banks with very limited access.

Covid-19 outbreak and consequent lockdowns, lack of health and government services such as electricity, clean water and fair educational supports affected our children wellbeing and student school attendances.

Teachers and school coordinators of various public schools reported that many children are dropping out of school due to the rising cost of living and transport. Many of those attending can’t afford to buy the regular meal they use to have. Those who can afford are kindly encouraged to bring extra sandwiches and snacks to share with others.

The goal

Ajialouna in corporation with Tripoli Expatriates Group and your generosity would like to arrange a daily meal for more than 2000 students in Tripoli most deprived public schools. This is to cover 2021-2022 teaching year.

this initiative will also generate work and opportunities for neighbouring bakeries and supermarkets. The work will be carried in coordination with headteachers. It is anticipated to cost around $ 50000. Any surplus in the received donations will be allocated to other schools or other educational initiative.

The project will be supervised by Ajialouna, Tripoli Expatriates Group and the school’s head teachers. Full reports of the expenses and beneficiaries will be available to donors on monthly basis.
