Story
My name is Sameeha Zainab Ansari. I am 16 years old and a student at Our Own English High School, Sharjah – Girls. I’ve always had access to classrooms with working lights, clean desks, books, and teachers who saw potential in me. But not every child is handed those same basics.
Now imagine a child waking up in a home without electricity, not to pack a school bag, but to fetch water or care for younger siblings. Imagine that child walking past a crumbling building with broken windows; a school in name, but not in function. If they’re lucky, they get a floor to sit on and one teacher trying to teach forty students with no books and no support.
This isn’t just one child’s story. This is reality for millions.
Pakistan is in the midst of a growing education crisis. Over 26.2 million children are currently out of school. Not because they don’t want to learn, but because they are born into systems that make learning nearly impossible. They are full of promise, but locked out of opportunity.
The Citizens Foundation, or TCF, is working to change this. With over 2,000 school units across Pakistan, they provide safe, inclusive classrooms in communities where there were once none. Their all-female faculty of more than 14,700 teachers and principals ensures that children are not only allowed to learn, but encouraged to lead.
This summer, as part of the TCF Ambassadors of Change Programme, I’m raising funds to help them continue this mission. This is not charity. This is justice. It is about giving children the education that should have always belonged to them.
My goal is to raise AED 15,000. That amount could support dozens of students with an entire year of education. With just AED 100, you can fund school for two children for one month. That’s two minds opened. Two dreams protected. Two futures changed.
If you believe that where a child is born should not determine who they become, this is your chance to act. Let’s not scroll past their stories. Let’s be the reason they are written differently.
