Story

Our mission is a tribute to my Grandmother Maha - a kind soul who always wanted to help the less fortunate in any way she could. The Maha Foundation aims to continue her legacy and help those who are less fortunate just as she did, and provide them with clean water they deserve and need to live a healthy life.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to not waste water and to share this precious source with others: ‘The best form of charity is to give someone water (to drink).’ However, the reality is that 783 million people worldwide do not have access to clean water. An estimated 842,000 people die each year from diarrhoea due to unsafe drinking water and UN Water now estimates that by 2025, 1800 million people will be living in areas with scarce access to water.

The Maha foundation aims to construct functioning water wells in Uganda and around the world and provide the local people with clean water. Water is essential for the survival of all life on earth, without water there is no life. Clean drinking water is very important for our health.

In Uganda, 7 million people lack access to safe water and 28 million do not have access to improved sanitation facilities. For our initial project, we hope to construct 1-2 new functioning water wells in Uganda. With your support, our constructed wells would provide 700 people in Uganda with clean water for 15 – 20 years ahead.

You can donate any amount you wish to help build a water well for a community in need, providing clean, safe water to drink.

Surge invests in communities with safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health solutions to help end the cycle of poverty.

Their solutions include wells, springs, rainwater harvesters, filters, toilets, hygiene, and menstrual health education. With billions of people lacking access to these basic needs, your contribution funds community-led, sustainable initiatives..

Funds raised will go towards well drills and rehabilitation for communities in Kaberamaido and Kalaki in Uganda. These are remote districts that self-describe as forgotten lands and where the majority of people live in extreme poverty. Each well will help a community or school of over 700 people.
